Baxter County Arkansas Fairgrounds Events
Baxter County sits in the Ozarks, between the White River and Norfork Lake. Mountain Home is the county seat, and the Baxter County Fairgrounds are on the edge of town. The fair association runs a September county fair, a dirt track that hosts motocross and demolition derbies, and a calendar of gun shows, expos and rentals. An 1858 log house sits on the grounds.
This guide covers what is on the calendar, how the 2026 fair worked, and how to enter, vend or rent.
Overview of Baxter County Fairgrounds
Location
The fairgrounds are at 1507 Fairgrounds Drive, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653. An older fair schedule describes the location as Highway 62 and the bypass, and the dirt track entrance is off Arena Drive. Mountain Home is the county seat, so the grounds are in the same town as the courthouse.
Who runs it
The Baxter County Fair Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, runs the fair and the grounds. It has been tax-exempt since May 2019. The fair board president in 2026 was Mike Bradshaw. Cindy Johnson is the fair and fairgrounds rental manager, and the office number is 870-425-6828.
A piece of history on the grounds
The Casey House, a dog-trot log house built around 1858 by Randolph DePriest Casey, stands on the fairgrounds. Casey was one of Mountain Home’s first settlers and its first representative in the Arkansas legislature. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Baxter County Historical Society restored it in 2026.
Size and layout
I did not find a reliable acreage figure. The association offers an Education Building with meeting rooms, a Commercial Exhibits Building, a barn, a show arena, a livestock barn, the Mountain Home Saddle Club Arena and the dirt track.
Why it matters locally
Baxter County’s economy leans on tourism, retirees and lake and river recreation. The fair is a reminder that the county also has gardeners, 4-H families, quilters, cattle producers and poultry and rabbit raisers. The exhibit halls are run in part by volunteers such as the Baxter County Master Gardeners.
Upcoming Events at Baxter County Fairgrounds

Year-round events
The association’s calendar lists the fair, demolition derbies, gun shows, kennel club shows, FFA auctions and community events. The dirt track hosts motocross, demolition derbies and racing, and it can be rented for private events such as birthday parties.
Seasonal pattern
The fair is the big September event. Spring and fall bring expos and gun shows, and the dirt track runs motorsports throughout the year. The fair’s own calendar is the best source.
Renting the grounds
The association rents the Education Building, Commercial Exhibits Building, barn and grounds. Buildings are heated and air-conditioned, and rates start at $100 per day. A larger meeting room rental begins at $550 per day plus a $250 one-time cleaning fee, and it includes a stage. Tables and chairs are included with Education Building rentals. Dirt track and whole-facility rentals are priced by the office.
Visitors exploring Baxter County Arkansas Fairgrounds Events can also discover local activities through Ashley County Arkansas Fairgrounds Events. Exploring both counties allows families and travelers to learn about regional heritage, discover seasonal celebrations, and enjoy community gatherings throughout Arkansas.
The Baxter County Fair
Dates
The 2026 fair ran Tuesday, September 15, through Saturday, September 19, with the theme “Ribbons, Rides, & America Unites.” The fair has moved before. A 2025 parade was held September 6, and an older schedule shows the fair running in late August. The 2027 dates have not been announced, so look for them on the association’s site.
Fair week
- Before the fair: the Baxter County Fair Pageant on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Dunbar Auditorium at Mountain Home High School
- Saturday before the fair: the parade at 10 a.m. on September 12, led by the fair queen. It began at 506 Hospital Drive and ended on 9th Street downtown.
- Tuesday: exhibit entries in the Education Building from 2 to 6 p.m., and livestock arrival for cattle, swine, goats and lambs from 4 to 7 p.m. The midway opened that evening.

- Saturday: Kid’s Day from 10 a.m., the Parade of Champions at 1 p.m. in the Livestock Show Arena, a 4-H poultry hen silent auction, a performance by The Table Worship Band, and livestock releases right after the parade
The fair book also mentions arena events at the Mountain Home Saddle Club Arena.
Exhibits and livestock
Competitions include home economics, art, photography, baked goods, quilts, crafts, horticulture, canning, poultry, rabbits and cattle. Entries must reflect the fair theme. Horticulture is run by the Baxter County Master Gardeners. Food preparation and horticulture entries are accepted only on Tuesday.
Carnival
Evans United Shows ran the 2026 carnival. The midway opened Tuesday from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Unlimited-ride armbands were $35 at the gate and $30 in advance through noon Wednesday. Advance armbands were sold at the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce, participating local banks, the fair office and some schools, including Cotter and Flippin.
Admission
Tuesday night admission was free for everyone in 2026, sponsored by the carnival. The fair book lists senior and veteran free admission at set times. One report listed $7 for some admission categories, but the adult price was not clear in what I found, so confirm gate prices with the office.

Getting to Baxter County Fairgrounds
The grounds are in Mountain Home, off Highway 62 and the bypass. From downtown Mountain Home, follow Highway 62 toward the fairgrounds. From Cotter, Flippin or Norfork, use Highway 62 or the bypass. I did not find any public transit or fair shuttle service.
4-H and FFA at Baxter County Fairgrounds
The fair includes 4-H and FFA livestock and exhibits, and the calendar lists FFA auctions. The 4-H poultry hen silent auction is held on the Saturday of the fair. I did not find the number of Baxter County 4-H clubs or a list of FFA chapters, though Cotter and Flippin schools take part in selling advance armbands. A junior livestock sale schedule was not published, so check the fair book.
